Gavin Jones
Gavin Jones has worked at Director level internationally for the last 25 years, successfully moving between private manufacturing businesses and the public sector. He has been an advisor to DFID, the World Bank, the EU and UN, more recently working in Iraq and Afghanistan. Previous work covered Europe, the Caucasus, Asia and North Africa where he specialised in trade policy and promotion, domestic and foreign investment attraction and government capacity building.

He has been extensively involved in helping to rebuild the Iraq economy as it emerges from conflict and has published a regular newsletter on Iraq in recent months. Gavin has also worked regularly in Afghanistan over the past two years, including an extended assignment within the Helmand Provincial Reconstruction Team working on private sector development. Gavin project managed the design of the Helmand Growth Programme for DFID and the parallel feasibility work on the proposed Industrial Park at Bost, near Lashkar Gah.

Gavin is currently running a skills and capacity building project in Iraq with the Ministry of Oil, supported by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Having lived and worked in over 50 countries throughout the EU, Asia, the Middle East, the Caribbean and Central and Eastern Europe, Gavin Jones has extensive experience of transitional economies, national and provincial policy development and trade integration. He has spent considerable time at senior management level in both the private manufacturing sector and the public sector.
